Neil Young made his first concert appearance since Farm Aid 2019 on Saturday, joining former Buffalo Springfield and CSNY bandmate Stephen Stills at the Autism Speaks Light Up The Blues Concert at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.

The benefit was hosted by Stills and his wife Kristen Stills, and also featured performances from Willie Nelson, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Sharon Van Etten and others. The event marked the sixth installment of Light Up The Blues, which had taken a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

During his set, Young played solo acoustic versions of “From Hank To Hendrix” and “Comes A Time” before being joined by members of Promise Of The Real, Chris Stills and backing vocalists for “Heart Of Gold.” Stills then came on stage for the CSNY classic “Helplessly Hoping” before the duo played a pair of Buffalo Springfield songs, “On The Way Home” and “Everybody’s Wrong,” the latter having not been played live by Young since his Buffalo Springfield days.

Young’s “Human Highway” came next, followed by Buffalo Springfield favorites “For What It’s Worth,” “Bluebird,” and “Mr. Soul.” Guitarist Steve Postell joined Young for “Bluebird,” while Joe Walsh played guitar on “Mr. Soul.” The encore was “Long May You Run,” the title track to Young and Stills’ 1976 collaborative album.
