Regina Spektor has shared her new single titled “Loveology” along with a set of North American tour dates for 2022. The new song is Spektor’s latest sample off her forthcoming album Home, before and after which is set to release on June 24.
Spektor’s latest track speaks to her usual imaginative style with a classroom narrative about the science of love. True to the fashion of folk and blues, “Loveology” conveys a poetic tone with the use of her abstract lyricism. “You-ology, me-ology, loveology, kiss-ology” Spektor sings repeatedly. Before building up to a dynamic outro swelling melodies carry listeners through the peaks and valleys of Spektor’s vocals overlaid throughout the romantic tune.
“With ‘Loveology,’ I wrote it and then played it once or twice live,” said Spektor in a press release. “Sometimes I’ll have a song that I’m really glad exists, but I can’t record it because every time I try, it just doesn’t feel right coming out of my mouth. But for whatever reason both ‘Loveology’ and ‘Raindrops’ felt so right this time and I’m so glad I was finally able to put them on a record.”
Spektor is hitting the road this summer and fall with a few dates accompanied by Norah Jones in support of her upcoming record. Beginning in Napa, Calif. later this month, the headlining tour will visit an impressive roster of venues including Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Carnegie Hall, Chicago Theater, and Ryman Auditorium. The 26-show run will conclude with a set at Los Angeles’ Walt Disney Concert Hall on Oct. 27.
