Nick Murphy a.k.a. Chet Faker has announced he will release his newest album Take In The Roses on Dec. 10. The album is credited to Nick Murphy & The Program and is the first release from Murphy with his new band. The new group is comprised of Murphy, Nick Kinsey (Waxahatchee, Kevin Morby), Jake Falby (Chet Faker, Julie Byrne), Tim Lappin and Tim Mislock and has their work produced by longtime collaborator Dave Harrington (Darkside).
“This record is important for a lot of reasons,” said Murphy in a press release. “But if I had to choose one, it’s that it was fun to make.”
Take In The Roses was written and recorded before the pandemic at the legendary Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas. The LP’s stretched-out soundscapes, live tracking and Americana influences set it apart from Murphy’s work under the name Chet Faker, and the artist chose to release it now to contrast his work Hotel Surrender which he dropped under the name Chet Faker in July.
Murphy will embark on his first tour under the Chet Faker name since 2016 in the spring of 2022. Find tickets to his tour here.
