Today, Neil Young announced he’ll be sharing a clandestine behind-the-scenes documentary that gazes upon his work on his upcoming album BARN. The LP features the legendary songwriter and his musical co-conspirators Crazy Horse.

The film, also titled BARN, was directed by dhlovelife, and will play in select theaters across North America on Dec. 9 through 11. The film will also be released as a part of the deluxe edition of the album. The documentary is expected to provide an unprecedented glimpse into Young and Crazy Horse’s musical process and was recorded in the Rocky Mountains in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Filmmaker dhlovelife described the film in a press release: “A documentary of the making of Neil Young and Crazy Horse recording BARN the album. BARN captures this legendary band in their element, in the wild, as they make music in a restored 19th-century log barn under the full moon. Neil and the horse are a 50-year-old musical family and BARN catches a rare intimate glimpse of their easy humor, their brotherhood, and of course, their music, created live, in their own unique spontaneous way.”

The next track from BARN “Welcome Back,” will be released on Friday, Dec. 3. Click here to stream the track.
