On Oct. 12, Phil Lesh played his second of three nights with The Q – Warren Haynes, Jimmy Herring, John Molo and Rob Barraco – at The Capitol Theatre, in Port Chester, NY (continuing his nine night, overarching Halloween run).

To start, a hefty “St. Stephen”> “The Eleven”> “Eyes of the World”> “Mountains of the Moon” began the festivities.

Standout covers included “Acadian Driftwood” by The Band and Johnny Cash’s “Wayfaring Stranger,” which bled into a set-closing “Angel Band.”

Set two kicked off with the crowd favorite “Uncle John’s Band” and Lesh even tapped into his solo repertoire with “No More Do I” off 2002’s There and Back Again.

Lesh chose to end the show with his reliable “Donor rap,” noting how his life was saved 23 years prior by a liver donation.

From there, he echoed his affection for the audience assembled at The Capitol Theatre with an encore of Cream’s “Sunshine of Your Love.” Just the evening before, Lesh grinned behind a mask, telling the audience, “You know I missed you too, just as much.”

Phil Lesh & Friends’ Halloween celebration will continue on Oct. 13, as well as Oct. 18-20 and Oct. 29-31. The Q will close out their first run, followed by a rotating cast of “Friends” for number two – namely, Stuart Bogie, Amy Helm, Eric D. Johnson, Josh Kaufman, Grahame Lesh, Elliott Peck, Joe Russo and Benmont Tench.

The final Phil-O-Ween weekend will include Nicki Bluhm, Larry Campbell, Griffin Goldsmith, Taylor Goldsmith, Grahame Lesh, Trevor Menear, Lee Pardini, M.C. Taylor and Teresa Williams.
