Trey Anastasio Band closed their late-summer tour on Sunday, Oct. 3, playing their final show with their improvised lineup, and welcoming saxophonist James Casey back into the fold.

Casey took this tour off after sharing his cancer diagnosis, but that didn’t stop the musician from soaking up a little applause, performing on the last three songs of the encore. He added soprano sax to the Lonely Trip cut “Evolve” and even supplied additional vocals to “Rise/Come Together” and the evening’s finale “A Life Beyond The Dream.”

Casey’s appearance was also preceded by a solo acoustic version of “Backwards Down the Number Line,” a song that celebrates the joys of friendship.

Elsewhere in the Radio City setlist, Anastasio and company opened the show with a groovy pairing of “Back on the Train”> “The Moma Dance” and treated fans to a “I Never Left Home”> “Carini” to end the second frame.
