Bob Dylan has announced that he will be releasing his classic track “Blind Willie McTell,” as a 7″ vinyl on Aug. 20. The release comes from Third Man Records.
The release will feature two previously unreleased takes of the song; the A-side being exclusive to this vinyl release. The B-side (take 5) will be on Dylan’s upcoming release Springtime In New York: The Bootleg Series, Vol. 16 (1980-1985) which is due to release Sept. 17.
The vinyl features session musicians Mark Knopfler, Mick Taylor, Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare. Though the track didn’t make it on Dylan’s album Infidels, “Blind Willie McTell” was the first track seriously worked on during those sessions and the last attempted as recording nearly a month later.
