Today is the official release date of Béla Fleck’s Live Heart: My Bluegrass Heart at the Ryman. This triple-vinyl offering presents Fleck’s performance at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on January 8, 2022. He was joined that day by a number of fellow artists to perform the material they recorded on his album My Bluegrass Heart, which would win the 2022 Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album a couple months later.

The other renowned musicians included: Sam Bush, Michael Cleveland, Jerry Douglas, Stuart Duncan, Sierra Hull, Edgar Meyer, Justin Moses, Mark Schatz, Billy Strings, Bryan Sutton, Tony Trischka, and Molly Tuttle. An East Coast blizzard scuttled the travel plans of Chris Thile but otherwise Fleck’s collaborators were able to participate.

Looking back on this evening Fleck comments, “We somehow managed to take and own the stage that night. My amazing peers, friends, and iconic performers really brought the fire—I’m very proud to bring you this fantastic live performance.”

The album can be heard here. In addition, Fleck has shared a video of his original song “Strider” from that evening featuring Sierra Hull and Molly Tuttle.

Fleck will be touring with his My Bluegrass Heart band over the months to come, including an appearance at Carnegie Hall on December 3 with Renée Fleming in support of their record The Fiddle and the Drum. Fleck’s upcoming dates appear below the video.
