Gillian Welch and David Rawlings will resume their Acoustic Reckoning dates this weekend in Washington, DC. The two musicians along with bassist Paul Kowert will offer their interpretations of the Grateful Dead catalog from an acoustic perspective. The shows take their name from the Grateful Dead’s 1981 double live album, Reckoning although the repertoire they perform extends beyond that release.

Back in August, Welch, Rawlings and Kowert appeared at the KEXP studio in Seattle. Their four-song set has just been posted to the KEXP YouTube page. The three musicians present their interpretations of “Bertha,” “Dire Wolf, “Brown-Eyed Women” and “Bird Song.” For those of you scoring at home, both “Dire Wolf” and “Bird Song” appear on the original Reckoning album, while the other two do not.

KEXP, which is based in Seattle, is a listener-supported radio station that broadcasts at KEXP 90.3 FM Seattle, KEXC 92.7 FM Alameda/San Francisco, and through its website and mobile apps.
