The Rex Foundation and The Jerry Garcia Family have announced the second annual Daze Between, a multi-week event featuring live shows and streams of music, art, auctions, baseball games and community service to celebrate the life and legacy of Jerry Garcia. Though officially celebrated from Aug. 1 through 9, the event kicked off early this year, with the return of Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros at Berkeley’s Greek Theatre – the first show at the famed venue since 2019.
Since its inception in 1983, the foundation has been supporting nonprofit organizations through grassroots efforts in the arts, education, environmental education, indigenous culture, social justice and more. The Rex Foundation is hoping to reach a milestone of $10,000,000 in grants by the end of this year’s festivities.
“We all play a part, and if we continue maintaining that tradition, this community will continue to thrive not just in deed, but also in spirit knowing that we are stronger together. That is what community is all about – and that is what Daze Between is about!” said Executive Director of the Rex Foundation Cameron Sears in a press release.
Last year’s Daze Between took place virtually over nine days with 2.7 million people tuning in from all around the world.
Daze Between has also introduced Daze of Service; an opportunity for fans from all around the world to give back and get involved by helping groups such as Food Runners, Soles4Souls, Share Food Program, Kids In Need Foundation, Music & Memory, and many more. The focus on volunteer opportunities to bring the community together is a new approach for the festivities this year. For a full list of volunteer opportunities, click here.
The celebration will continue with Jerry Day at Fenway Park in Boston on July 29.
Daze Between is sponsored by Garcia Hand Picked, a national cannabis brand that launched in 2020 to honor the legacy of Jerry Garcia.

July 28, 2021 at 5:52 pmWhy disrespect the memory of Jerry, one of his most brilliant songs and Dead enthusiasts in general with the bastardized spelling of “Daze”. What are they implying? Jerry and his fans are permanently impaired stoned out burnouts like the “Wharf Rats”? I am offended by this moniker and demand to be placated. Certainly am not motivated to donate or attend in any manner…
