On Friday, March 5, the world will get its first taste of Silk Sonic a new project featuring hitmaker Bruno Mars, Grammy-winning R&B/hip-hop mastermind Anderson .Paak and P-Funk legend Bootsy Collins.

According to social media posts, this new band as well as the album will be titled Silk Sonic, and Collins will act as the project’s “special guest host.”

Discussing the project via Twitter, the P-Funk legend promised “A Lot of Funked Up Sheet Comin’ ur way.”

In the pre-pandemic world .Paak opened for Mars on his 24K Magic world tour. The Silk Sonic project is presumably a pandemic passion project for both artists. The artwork hints at ’70s glam legends like Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Sly Stone and, of course, Parliament Funkadelic.

The first single from Silk Sonic will drop on March 5.
