Billy Strings’ Meet Me At The Drive-In tour rolled on last night, Sept. 16, at the McHenry Outdoor Theater in McHenry, Ill. During the show, Strings dusted off covers of the Grateful Dead and Little Feat.
The first set began with the band’s first ever performance of The Bluegrass Alliance’s “One Tin Soldier (Legend of Billy Jack)” before transitioning into “Pyramid Country,” followed by “Must Be Seve.” Later in the set, Strings paired “End of the Rainbow” and “20/20 Vision.” To close the set, the band dove deep into a rendition of “Turmoil & Tinfoil.”
Set two began with “Hollow Heart,” followed by a performance of the Grateful Dead’s “Dire Wolf.” After “Whisper My Name,” the band dropped into Little Feat’s “Willin’,” followed by fan-favorite “Dust In A Baggie.” Later, they delivered their first ever rendition of “Manzanita” by the Tony Rice Unit. The set and show closed with “This Heart of Mine.”
The full show is available to watch on TourGigs; to purchase, click here. Strings and his band returns to the stage tonight (Sept. 17) for their second show at the McHenry Outdoor Theater.
