On Tuesday and Wednesday, the immortal legacy of the Allman Brothers Band roared from New York’s Madison Square Garden as The Brothers–a supergroup of nine former members, reunited on the legendary stage five years after they first assembled. Now, the band’s twin guitarists and longtime collaborators, Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks, have announced plans to keep the celebration of Southern rock’s foundational group going with a collaborative Gov’t Mule and Tedeschi Trucks Band show in their old hometown.
Gov’t Mule and TTB will take the stage together for a performance at Macon, Ga.’s Atrium Health Amphitheater on October 11. This special shared bill falls within TTB’s expansive Live In 25 Tour, which also includes five previously announced team-ups for the esteemed bands. The Macon stand will show particular reverence for the Allman Brothers Band, with whom Haynes and Trucks performed for many years, by welcoming fellow Southern rock torchbearers Duane Betts & Palmetto Motel.
The new co-bill show follows a ramp-up in collaborations between Haynes and Trucks that included an intimate duet recording of “These Changes” and another live treatment of the track at the SOULSHINE Madison Square Garden benefit concert. Before that, the artists reunited in the studio for the official recording of the song on Million Voices Whisper. The version on that landmark project, which arrived last November via Fantasy Recordings, was among two other collaborative entries that collectively marked their first sessions together since the Allman Brothers Band’s 2003 album Hittin’ the Note.
Just before The Brothers’ celebrated revival, Haynes and Trucks joined forces in Macon to take part in “A Celebration of Dickey Betts,” a star-studded tribute show at the Macon Auditorium hosted by Duane Betts. Read more about that unforgettable performance here.
Tickets for Gov’t Mule and Tedeschi Trucks Band’s co-headline show in Macon will become available via an artist presale on Monday, April 21 at 10 a.m. ET.
