Phish drummer Jon Fishman will appear on a new album that’s dropping this fall, though the Phish drummer’s fans may be surprised at the content of the record: It’s called Death Atlas, and it’s the eighth studio effort from southern California extreme metal stalwarts Cattle Decapitation.

According to the band, who recently posted a group photo of them and Fishman after their show at The Westcott Theater in Syracuse, NY, Cattle Decapitation are the drummer’s “favorite extreme metal band.” One Facebook commenter shrewdly asked if Fishman plays any of his patented vacuum solos on the record, to which the band replied, “would have been sick.”

Invisible Oranges has a bit more information on the collaboration, quoting Cattle Decapitation vocalist Travis Ryan, who explains, “Jon is a big fan of the band and we were happy to have him come on board with the narration, as well as a quote off the top of his head that was inspired by the beautiful area he lives in, and recorded under the Maine night sky.”

Death Atlas featuring Fishman’s narration will be available Nov. 29. Check out the recently debuted lead single, “One Day Closer to the End of the World,” below.
