On Saturday, My Morning Jacket performed at Fairport, NY’s Perinton Center Park Amphitheater as part of the Hoochenanny festival. Bassist Karina Rykman was also on the bill with her trio and, as she has several times before, sat in with the band for a few songs during their show. This time Rykman emerged near the end of MMJ’s extended set for four tunes that span the group’s catalog, “Touch Me I’m Going to Scream Pt. 2,” “Squid Ink,” “Wordless Chorus” and “Mahgeetah.”

The New York-based Rykman first performed with My Morning Jacket at Detroit’s Masonic Temple Theatre on July 2, 2024. She has appeared with them four addition times before Saturday, in Chicago in 2024, at the One Big Holiday event in 2025 and twice in Brooklyn, NY later that year. The bassist will release her sophomore album, Late Checkout, on September 25 and celebrate with a show at New York’s Webster Hall that night. My Morning Jacket, meanwhile, while perform next at Ocean City, MD’s Oceans Calling on September 27.
