Dinosaur Jr. have confirmed a series of free and intimate shows around New York City later this month. A post shared from the band explains, “The One. For New York. Feat. Dinosaur Jr. and friends. FREE SHOWS at Lucinda’s, Skinny Dennis, & Maria Hernandez Park. RSVP now. Fans will be let in on a first come, first serve basis day of show. Limited tickets on sale for Baby’s All Right.”
The free gigs will take place a New York’s Lucinda’s on August 27, Brooklyn, NY’s Skinny Dennis on August 28 and Brooklyn’s Maria Hernandez Park on August 29. They will then headline a ticketed show at Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right later in the evening on August 29. Marc Ribot’s Ceramic Dog will open the Lucinda’s show, and Steve Gunn will appear before the alt-rock legends at the Skinny Dennis. Thurston Moore Group, featuring fellow Sonic Youth member Steve Shelley and Deb Googe, and They are Gutting a Body of Water will round out the park bill, while Mike Kinsella (of American Football) and Snail Mail (solo) will both open at Baby’s All Right.
Dinosaur Jr. will release their first album in five years, There Near, on August 28.
