The Bizarre World of Frank Zappa tour, which will pair a hologram of the late iconic musician with a band featuring some of his former collaborators, has announced the initial North American dates of the outing, which will kick off on April 19 at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY.
The tour, whose East Coast stint will also feature stops in Boston, Albany, Baltimore and more, will offer a performance based on the audio from a batch of performances Zappa played at a Los Angeles rehearsal space in 1974. Included in the touring band will be guitarists Ray White and Mike Keneally, bassist Scott Thunes, multi-instrumentalist Robert Martin, percussionist Ed Mann and drummer Joe “Vaultmeister” Travers, the Zappa vault archivist.
“We’re excited to world premiere a handful of Frank Zappa compositions; these mind-melting concerts we’re putting together celebrate the music, often surreal imagery and humour synonymous with Frank,” says Ahmet Zappa, co-trustee of the Zappa Family Trust. “We will be pushing the limits of what anyone has seen holographically on stage before in a live venue. Circumstances, objects, places and subject matter from Frank’s songs and imagination will be brought to life for the first time on stage. We are anthropomorphizing Frank’s music utilizing various visual techniques, art styles, classic imagery from his album artwork and characters from his songs, culminating in one extremely bizarre, live music experience.”
Tickets for the North American dates go on sale this Friday, Feb. 15, at 10 a.m. ET, with a VIP pre-sale beginning Feb. 13. See the full schedule and European dates below. More information can be found at Zappa’s website.

February 14, 2019 at 3:30 pmWe knew this was potentially coming, if you follow Dweezil’s website………
Now is the the time to resist……….I know it’s hard to say “NO” when Amet releases all the sweet Zappa vault stuff. Honestly, i am a victim too of completeist tendencies towards Zappa CD releases……
But if you want to side with “the sane” in the entire Zappa family debacle and debate then please avoid this money grab.
Dweezil is sick to his stomach over this.
This is NOT COOL

February 11, 2019 at 5:50 pmI used to see Frank in concert. I’d only go to this if Dweez is onboard. ZFT is the residue on seat 38 on Phydeaux 3.

February 11, 2019 at 3:33 pmWhy would you not work with your brother Dweezil,,,He is a Master of you fathers music and so is his band. It might have been something entertaining that could have been added in his show..if not a tacky mess..Sounds like a money grab on your part..Would never go to it unless it was all in the family…I saw Dweezil perform the first year he went out with Zappa play Zappa..It
was just incredibly, never thought I would hear your fathers music played again like that…Its a shame you two don’t get along, I am sure your Dad in so happy about this..
