After welcoming New Mastersounds keyboardist Joe Tatton and setting up shop at the local Margaritaville, moe. continued their collaborative Tropical throe.down on Saturday by jamming with DJ Logic and inviting Tatton to the stage once again.

moe.’s first set at the Jewel Paradise Cove began with plenty of improv, as the five-piece dove head-first into a “Stranger Than Fiction”> “Y.O.Y”> “head.” jam. From there, they played a couple of stand alone tunes (“Darkness,” “Smoke”), and closed the first half with a pairing of “Down Boy”> “Water.”

The band’s special guests came knocking for set two. After opening with “Prestige Worldwide” and “32 Things,” moe. invited DJ Logic to spin his turntables on fan favorite “Captain America.” The jam kept going with Logic as well as new addition Tatton on “Recreational Chemistry.” Logic left the stage but Tatton stayed on keys for the continued “Blues Jeans Pizza” jam that segued beautifully back into “Recreational Chemistry.”

After thanking their guests, moe. closed out their Saturday show by themselves, with “Same Old Story,” “Blue Eyed Son” and “Godzilla.”

moe.’s Tropical throe.down will continue on Sunday and Monday night.
