After a health scare in New York City earlier this month, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has cancelled his remaining tour dates for 2018.

In a dramatic turn of events, Perry collapsed backstage at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 10 following a sit-in with Billy Joel.

“Joe Perry experienced shortness of breath and was treated backstage by paramedics who gave the guitarist oxygen and used a tracheal tube to clear his airway before taking him to a hospital,” a statement from Perry’s publicist read on Nov. 11.

And while Perry initially planned to get back on the road later this month, today his team has confirmed he will take the rest of the year off.

“Perry again would like to apologize to the fans who were planning on coming to the shows and looks forward to seeing them again in 2019,” a statement read.

In addition to his solo work and regular gig with Aerosmith, Perry is a member of the Hollywood Vampires, a supergroup featuring Alice Cooper and actor Johnny Depp.
