After wrapping up his collaborative “The Future Is Voting” tour last week, My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James recently stopped by NPR’s offices to play a Tiny Desk Concert, which featured a trio of solo acoustic numbers.

Wasting no time in the intimate performance, James ditches the banter that some artists favor during their Tiny Desk sets, flowing from one song to another while casually chewing on a piece of gum. First up was “I’m Amazed,” the usually bombastic My Morning Jacket cut. All three of the songs have a bit of a political bent—appropriate for the upcoming elections and James’ recent tour through swing districts that featured political speakers from both sides of the aisle—continuing with “Same Old Lie,” off James’ 2016 solo album Eternally Even, then “Over and Over” from his more recent duo of albums, Uniform Distortion and Uniform Clarity.

Watch the short set below. James will continue with his solo dates next week, starting November 1 in Solana Beach, CA, before he teams up with Hurray for the Riff Raff’s Alynda Segarra for a cross-country trek throughout the month. See James’ full schedule here.
