The Los Muertos Con Queso destination event in Riviera Maya, Mexico, continued last night with a bit of a lineup change, as Los Muertos’ Bob Weir was forced to sit out the performance due to food poisoning. Guest Jackie Greene helped out throughout the show in place of Weir. Day two also included a String Cheese Incident set that featured a nod to late Allman Brothers Band drummer Butch Trucks.
After presenting their own touching tribute to Trucks on night one of the event, Los Muertos stuck to Grateful Dead favorites, including a “Scarlet Begonias” into “Fire on the Mountain” opening, plus “Ramble on Rose,” “Bertha,” “Eyes of the World,” Shakedown Street” and a Bob Weir favorite, “Loose Lucy.”
Earlier in the day, The String Cheese Incident held up their “Queso” part of the destination event with a two-set affair. Along with SCI staples and covers of Bob Dylan’s “Just Like Tom Thumb Blues” and the Rusty Wier-penned “Don’t It Make You Wanna Dance,” the band also fit their nod to the late Trucks with a rendition of the Allman Brothers classic “Jessica” near the end of the final set.
