Keller Williams showcased three of his many projects on New Year’s Eve. The three-set performance took place at Wilmington, NC’s Brooklyn Performing Arts Center. Williams opened the show with his cover-heavy Keller & the Keels bluegrass project, offering such songs as Patterson Hood’s “Uncle Disney,” Tom Petty’s “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” and Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2),” along with a mash-up of Pink Floyd’s “Breathe” and Ryan Adams’ “Cold Roses.” After a short break, Williams returned with his bass in hand along with his current project Kdubalicious. The musicians offered a set of music in the style of Williams’ new Bass album, including reworked versions of his own “Freeker By The Speaker,” “Dragon Attack,” “Positive Reggae,” Neil Young’s “Comes a Time,” “Thinking Out Loud” and the Grateful Dead’s “Feel Like a Stranger.”

Williams’ third set referenced a range of styles. For his New Year’s gag, Williams invited out the Keels and assorted friends for a cover of Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” that led into midnight. The ensemble then busted into “Auld Lang Syne” and Steppenwolf’s “Born to Be Wild.” Later on, Williams offered a solo, loop-heavy segment that included “Gate Crashers Suck” and a fitting “Till the Morning Comes.” For this encore, Williams brought out all the evening’s players for Erykah Badu’s “Tyrone” and Cracker’s “Teen Angst.”
