Last night at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre in St. Augustine, FL, moe. and RatDog wrapped up a weekend of shows, which featured a number of crossover moments. On Friday at Atlanta’s Masquerade Music Park, Bob Weir joined moe. for ‘The Other One’ and remained as the group closed out its set with ‘Brent Black’ and then re-emerged for ‘The Weight’ encore. While a member of moe. did not appear with RatDog during its opening two sets, area resident Bryan Lopes (a longtime collaborator of Jeff Sipe) bolstered RatDog’s brass during both sets, contributing to ‘Wang Dang Doodle,’ ‘Milestones,’ ‘West L.A. Fadeaway’ and ‘Scarlet Begonias.’ Then on Saturday, moe. opened the night and brought out Weir for ‘The Race is On.’ RatDog reciprocated by welcoming Al Schnier to the stage for their own take on ‘The Other One,’ as well as ‘One More Saturday Night.’ Lopes appeared on those two tunes as well as ‘Sugaree’ and ‘Bird Song.’ Finally, last evening in Florida, RatDog once again closed and invited moe.‘s Chuck Garvey to lend guitar to ‘Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodleloo.’ Both bands are routing up to the Northeast where they will appear at the Gathering of The Vibes this coming weekend.
