Zenbu Media (publisher of Jambands.com, Relix magazine and Relix.com) announced its selection today as National Sponsorship Coordinator for the newly-formed Music Festival Alliance, a coalition of premier independent summer music festivals United Through Music. This coalitionthe first of its kindincludes seven independent music festivals with a combined attendance of over 300,000 passionate music fans.
Were excited to be broadening our relationship with the Alliance, says Steve Bernstein, Zenbu Medias president/publisher. Relix magazine has always covered these festivals, which are integral to the live music scene. By consolidating sponsorship opportunities, its a great way for brands to coordinate their marketing programs and physical presence while reaching hundreds of thousands of core music fans all summer long.
The members of the Alliance represent a musically invigorating, geographically diverse collection of destination festivals, which include: Harmony Festival (Santa Rosa, CA, June 12-14), Wakarusa (Lawrence, KS, June 18-21), High Sierra (Quincy, CA, July 2-5), All Good (Masontown, WV, July 10-12), 10,000 Lakes (Detroit Lakes, MN, July 22-25), Gathering of the Vibes (Bridgeport, CT, July 23-26) and Telluride Blues & Brews (Telluride, CO, Sept. 18-20). All the member festivals are recognized for their grassroots promotion of ecological awareness and social responsibility, as well as producing quality music events in their regions.
Recent performers include the Black Crowes, Erykah Badu, Flaming Lips, Ben Harper, The Roots, Phil Lesh & Friends, The Allman Brothers Band, Arrested Development, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Widespread Panic and many more.
The Music Festival Alliance actualizes a great idea whose time has come, says Sean Ahearn, Operations Manager for the MFA and producer of the annual Harmony Festival in Santa Rosa, CA. In a business that has become increasingly competitive, corporate and overproduced, the Music Festival Alliance represents the original heart and soul of what made music festivals popular in the first place: Independent grassroots events produced and professionally run by real music lovers, with artist, fans and producers banding together for the greater good.
This alliance gives regional music festivals strength in numbers, adds Bernstein, which will get the attention of national advertisers.
