This weekend, blusirkut, the band that began as a studio offshoot of Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe but has since become a touring entity in its own right, will deliver a three show California run. The group now features three members of Karl Densons Tiny Universe: Brian Jordan on guitar, Chris Littlefield on trumpet and David Veith on keys, along with new drummer Ryan Krieger (steeping in for John Staten). blusirkut also identifies Alton Parker, who contributes visuals/light, as its fifth member. The group describes itself as mashed potatoes and gravy nu-jazz, with cornbread DRUM & BASS smothered in collared greens and a big ass side of sampledelic delight. Serving up todays special: Live Brazillian-House and World-Beat gumbo with 5-pieces of funky fried electronica. blusirkut will perform this evening at Moe’s Alley in Santa Cruz, appear at San Franciscos Boom Boom Room on Saturday and then travel to Club Fais Do-Do in Los Angeles on Saturday for a show with Banyan.
