Members of The Disco Biscuits, The Ally and Particle joined Electron last night at the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia. Electron features bassist Marc Brownstein and keyboardist Aron Magner of The Disco Biscuits, guitarist Tom Hamilton (Brothers Past) and drummer Joe Russo (Fat Mama). Drummer Sam Altman (The Disco Biscuits) joined the group for Floodlights to open the set. Keyboardist Steve Molitz and guitarist Charlie Hitchcock, both of Particle, then sat in for a long jam that segued into an instrumental version of Home Again. Drummer Mike Greenfield (The Ally) also took the stage for a portion of the set.
It was just amazing to bring all these young, but unbelievably talented musicians together, says Brownstein, who formed Electron. Youve got all these incredible players in one room and everyone is just raging. It was great. The highlight was definitely ‘No Sleep ‘Til Brooklyn’.
Molitz also performed with opening act, The Cookie Dusters, for the entire set, which was all improvisation. That line-up includes Russo, Greenfield, guitarist Jon Gutwillig (The Disco Biscuits) and bassist Ira Tuton (The Ally).
The Disco Biscuits host Camp Bisco III: Senor Boombox this weekend at Salansky Farms in Union Dale, PA. For details, visit the bands official website.
