Special guests joined Trey Anastasio and his band at each of the last three shows. Last night at the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in Darien, NY, Phish drummer Jon Fishman performed alongside regular drummer Russ Lawton for the entire show. The set list featured Push on Til the Day, Small Axe, First Tube and Sand.
Saturday at the Champlain Valley Exposition outside Burlington, VT, Trey welcomed the string quartet from the Vermont Youth Orchestra (Adriane Post, Jane Kittredge, Anja Jokela, and Indigo Ruth-Davis) to the stage for Inlaw Josie Wales, Flock of Words and At the Gazebo. Trombonist James Harvey also sat in for Mozambique.
During Fridays encore at the Tweeter Center in Mansfield, MA, Phish bassist Mike Gordon sat in for two Phish classics, Mikes Song -> Weekapaug Groove. The five-piece horn section played various parts of the song, including the guitar intro.
Trey has now invited his three Phish band mates to sit in on this tour (keyboardist Page McConnell played on May 31 in Las Vegas).
Anastasio’s band plays tomorrow at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. For the full schedule, visit www.treyanastasio.com.
