Marco Benevento celebrated the release of his new studio album TigerFace with a special show at San Rafael, CA’s Terrapin Crossroads on Friday night. The keyboardist—who was in the area for a performance at a wedding—led a trio featuring Tea Leaf Green bassist Reed Mathis and drummer Andrew Borger. In addition, during their set the trio invited out the venue’s owner, Phil Lesh, to play bass on a cover of Deerhoof’s “Twin Killers.”
Benevento recorded a version of the song for his cover-heavy album Me Not Me. Lesh also brought Benevento out to play on “Not Fade Away” at Terrapin Crossroads a few weeks ago.
