Today, Feb. 18, Dark Star Orchestra have officially unveiled their Spring Tour itinerary. Preceding and following the return of the beloved Grateful Dead cover ensemble’s Dark Star Jubilee festival, the band’s next outing will take them to a total of 10 headline sets across the Midwest and Southeast regions in May and early June.
Dark Star Orchestra will embark on their latest live series with an opening performance at St. Paul, Minn.’s historic Palace Theatre on May 15. The Chicago-based tribute outfit and noted road warriors will continue on through their home region with a May 16 follow-up at Des Moines, Iowa’s Val Air Ballroom, leading into bookings at St. Louis’ The Pageant on May 17, Milwaukee’s Pabst Theater Group on May 19 and Shipshewana, Ind.’s Blue Gate Performing Arts Center on May 20.
On May 23, the band will commence its beloved annual tradition of the Dark Star Jubilee at Thornville, Ohio’s Legend Valley Concert Venue and Campground. The festivities will continue keep on through May 25, after which the host group will leave the Midwest to set out on the second frame of their tour. Dark Star Orchestra’s Southeast leg is set to begin with a staging at Wilmington, N.C.’s Greenfield Lake Amphitheater on May 27, then head inland to Charlotte, N.C.’s Amp Ballantyne on May 29. The band will bear south to Atlanta’s Tabernacle on May 30, then boomerang back to the Tar Hell State for a penultimate staging at Asheville, N.C.’s Asheville Yards Amphitheater on May 31. DSO will wrap their Spring Tour with a grand finale at Charleson, S.C.’s The Refinery on June 1.
