After welcoming Phish bandmate Page McConnell to the stage on night two, Trey Anastasio closed his three-night SPAC outing on Sunday, June 20, with special guest Jeff Tanski on keys.

Tanski first entered Anastasio’s orbit during the guitarist’s Hands on Hands on a Hard Body musical and has since gone on to assist Phish on special performances like their New Year’s Eve gags and the Baker’s Dozen run; he also joined Anastasio throughout most of his Beacon Jams residency this past fall.

In the last week, Tanksi has continued to be a creative outlet for Anastasio, sitting in with him as recently as his June 13 Rubber Jungle LIVE set and both of the preceding SPAC shows, on June 18 and 19.

On June 20, the socially-distanced crowd at SPAC was treated to an opening, acoustic “Carini,” followed by 3.0 cut “Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan” and “Free.”

Tanski then made his way to the stage for Anastasio’s acoustic debut of fan favorite “Reba” (sans whistling) and added the Rescue Squad String Section for the following “Strange Design.” Anastasio introduced the latter tune as a Father’s Day Song, and even noted how Tanski “saved his life” during the pandemic, as they duo rehearsed together for hours at a time.

Other acoustic debuts for the evening included “Drift While You’re Sleeping” the set-closing “You Enjoy Myself” (complete with a solo vocal jam by Anastasio) and the final encore of “Tweezer Reprise.”

Setlist statisticians were also thrilled to get a late-set version of “The Lizards” – last performed by Anastasio solo on 10/26/2019.
