Project/Object has announced that it will mount an east coast tour this winter with four former members of Frank Zappa’s band. The line-up will include guitarist/vocalist Ike Willis, saxophonist Napoleon Murphy Brock, saxophonist Bunk Gardner and keyboardist Don Preston. ‘We’ve always had Zappa musicians sit in with us here and there,’ says Project/Object’s Andre Cholmondeley. ‘But we’re now entering a period where we’ve reached enough of a hardcore Zappa fan base to allow us to mount this tour. Thanks to the internet and the support we’ve had on previous tours — particularly this past year — we know without question that the fans are out there.’
The tour kicks off December 27 at the Tralf in Buffalo, NY and includes stops in Ontario, New York, Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia. The band will play December 30 and 31 at The Lions Den in New York City. Special guests are expected.
