Later this week, Cochemea ‘Cheme’ Gastelum who has played with Robert Walter’s 20th Congress, Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings, The Motet and many others over the past few years, is going to leap from coast to coast for two shows with two separate incarnations of his Cheme’s Conundrum project. On Thursday he’ll return to New York’s Cutting Room (where he appeared with the Conundrum on April 11 for a post-Joan Rivers show as some of you may remember), joined by a line-up that also includes Al Street, Adam Scone and Simon Lott. ‘Special Guests’ are pledged as well and the last time out Eric Krasno, Skerik and Jessica Lurie were among the Special. Then on Friday night, Gastelum will travel to California for a gig at the Boom Boom Room with Adam Deitch, Chuck Prada, Anthony Farrell, Will Bernard and once again those darned ‘Special Guests.’
