Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey has confirmed a series of intriguing September shows. The Oklahoma-bred group will start the month down in New Orleans playing a handful of gigs with drummers Johnny Vidacovich (Maple Leaf Bar, 9/8 & 13 and d.b.a, 9/11) and Simon Lott (Hi Ho Lounge, 9/12). The group will also host an evening workshop at Tipitina’s on September 9. After a few days off, JFJO will head to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast for a series of club shows. Along the way, the group will pair with the Bjorkestra for gigs in Falls Church, VA (9/19), New York (9/22) and Baltimore (9/23) and The Life Effect, a new group ensemble The Slips Brad and Andrew Barr, JFJOs Reed Mathis and Fully Celebrated Orchestras Jim Hobbes, for performances in Boston (9/26), Portland, ME (9/27), Newmarket, NH (9/28) and Fall River, MA (9/29). Looking ahead, the trio will play the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame on October 13 and Norman, OKs Fall Groovefest 2007 on October 14.
