Uncle Sammy, which last performed in June 2005, reunited this past weekend in California. The occasion was the wedding of guitarist Max Delaney at the the Stinson Beach Community Center in Stinson Beach, CA. Serving as the wedding band was the Nate Wilson Group, which features Uncle Sammy drummer Tom Arey. At one point during the evening, Delaney, Arey, bassist Brian O’Connell and keyboard player Beau Sasser were enticed to perform, delivering versions of the Grateful Dead’s ‘Shakedown Street’ and A.J. Croce’s ‘Way With Woman,’ both of which were somewhat regular covers in the Uncle Sammy repertoire. In addition, O’Connell also sat in with the Nate Wilson Group for a portion of their set.
