Kofi Burbridge at The Capitol Theatre, 2/21/18

On March 2, Tedeschi Trucks Band continued their string of tributes to late bandmate Kofi Burbridge by closing their winter tour with a recreation of the multi-instrumentalist’s final performance with the band (12/1/18).

As they did on December 1, 2018, TTB started the show with Jimmy Cliff’s “Sitting in Limbo,” and moved through originals like “Don’t Know What It Means” as well as The Box Tops’ “The Letter.”

The covers continued later with Sleepy John Estes’ “Leaving Truck,” and the band briefly diverted from their original setlist to toss in “Volunteered Slavery” before Charles Segar’s “Key To The Highway.” TTB closed the first half with their Made Up Mind cut “Idle Wind,” containing a devoted segue in and out of Bob Marley’s “Rastaman Chant.”

Set two kicked off with Dr. John’s “I Walk On Gilded Splinters” and TTB fan favorite “Midnight in Harlem.”

Eventually, the already-emotional show hit its most cathartic moment with a pairing of “Angel From Montgomery” and Susan Tedeschi’s arrangement of the Grateful Dead’s “Sugaree.”

They ended set two with a jam through TTB’s “The Storm” and the Allman Brothers’ “Whipping Post,” before encoring with “Going Going Gone” by Bob Dylan and “More and More” by Little Milton.

As fans, friends and colleagues continue to honor his memory, Burbridge’s funeral was held on March 4, and in a March 3 statement from the band pointed fans to three different charities that they could donate to in Burbridge’s memory – the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, the Music Health Alliance and MusiCares.
