John Medeski to Perform with Trey Anastasio for Three Shows This Summer

John Medeski will join Trey Anastasio and his band for three shows this summer. Medeski (Medeski, Martin & Wood) will perform July 20 at Riverport Amphitheatre in St. Louis, MO, July 21 at Alpine Valley in East Troy, WI, and July 22 at Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville, IN. Due to a scheduling conflict, tour keyboardist Ray Paczkowski (Viperhouse) is unavailable for the July 21 show. However, both Paczkowski and Medeski will play keyboards for the July 20 and July 22 concerts. Anastasio’s backing band also includes Russ Lawton (drums), Tony Markellis (bass), Dave Grippo (saxophone), Russell Remington (saxophone), Andy Moroz (saxophone) and Jennifer Hartswick (trumpet).

Merl Saunders to Headline CD Release Party for Phish Tribute Album

The Mockingbird Foundation has announced plans for a CD Release Party for the benefit album, Sharing In The Groove. Merl Saunders will headline the event, which will be held July 12 at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, CA. Ten Ton Chicken will open the show. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased through GDTSTOO or by calling 415-885-0750. A portion of ticket sales will benefit local music education for children.

Sharing In The Groove features an eclectic group of musicians covering the music of Phish. Artists on the album include Merl Saunders, The Wailers, Jimmy Buffett, Michael Ray and Cosmic Krewe, Little Feat, Arlo Guthrie and Xavier, Gordon Stone Trio, Amfibian, Son Seals, Rebecca’s Statue, Project Logic with John Scofield, The Tom Tom Club, Scott Kanberg (Pavement), Lake Trout, FRED, The Vermont Youth Orchestra, the Stanford Marching Band, Dave Hidalgo & Louie Perez (Los Lobos), The Boredoms, Hot Tuna, and Dave Matthews. The double-CD will be released in June.

Galactic Releases Europe Dates

Galactic has confirmed plans to perform six shows in Europe this month. The mini-tour kicks off on June 21 at the Jazz Cafn London, England and will include dates in Switzerland, France, Germany and Holland. The complete itinerary is available at www.galacticfunk.com.

The group will play Tipitinas in New Orleans, LA on June 9 and June 16.

Tamarack Mountain Music Festival Announces Line-up

The line-up for this summers Tamarack Mountain Music Festival has been released. The event will be held July 20-22 at Tamarack Resort in Angel’s Camp, CA. Artists performing include Zigaboo Modeliste, Sound Tribe Sector Nine, Deep Banana Blackout, Lost at Last, Vinyl, Box Set, Natalie MacMaster, The Big Wu, Fact or Fiction, Garaj Mahal, OM, Taos Hum and Ten Ton Chicken among others.
