Today we look back to June 29, 2007…

The Biscuits Win Poker game, Lose Seaside Park Gig

The Disco Biscuits have announced that the show originally scheduled for Tuesday July 3rd at the Green Room (heh heh) in Seaside Park, New Jersey has been cancelled. The band has released a statement that indicates, The Disco Biscuits and the Green Room unfortunately misjudged the demand created by a Disco Biscuits concert in the Seaside Park area. All parties have agreed the area lacks capacity to safely handle the expected turnout for the concert. The Township of Seaside Park and the venue decided that the venue and the surrounding communities are too small, especially on the holiday weekend.

However, Biscuits fans can take some heart in the knowledge that the group has won the right to close out the Pompano Beach Amphitheatre show on Sunday (Umphreys McGee will open the night). This was a result of a poker game the quartets Jon Gutwillig won over Umphreys rep Ryan Stasik. This evening the D.U.M.B. tour hits Raleigh, NC’s The Lincoln Theatre Street Stage.

Phil & Friends To Perform at Sweetwater

Phil Lesh and the Unbroken Chain Foundation recently put out a call for volunteers to aid Homeward Bound of Marin. Lesh and the organization have selected 24 individuals to help refurbish a classroom Homeward Bound. The project will culminate with a private party on July 8 featuring Phil and Friends. In a video message on his website, Lesh has announced that the group also will perform a gig the prior night, July 7 at Mill Valley’s Sweetwater with additional details to follow soon.

Grateful For the Cedar

The Cedar Cultural Center is Minneapolis-based music venue that exists as a 501©3
non-profit organization. As a result, over the past eleven years, a number of area
bands have performed benefit shows to aid the Cedar. This year’s Grateful For

the Cedar event will take place on Sunday, July 1. The Big Wu will open the night,
with its original line-up in place augmented by Dean Magraw. Also slated to appear
are: God Johnson, Brass Kings, Eight Head and Charlie Parr with a $20 minimum donation
collected at the door.

moe.down Golf Returns

The 8th annual moe.down will once again take place at the Snow Ridge Ski area in

Turin, NY. The event, slated for August 31 through September 2, will offer music
from Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, Medeski Scofield Martin and Wood, Amos Lee,
the Meat Puppets, Strangefolk, and many others, including, of course, moe. In an
altogether related matter, the moe.down Golf Tournament will be back as well (for

its 7th year). This event will take place at Turin Highlands on Friday the 31st
and will benefit the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research. The
action will begin at 9 AM and an $85 donation will yield a round of golf, a cart,
beer and lunch (in that general order).

Reynolds and Logic at Lew-Au II

now include Tim Reynolds, DJ Logic, Casual Fiasco, and Bad Suit. These artists join
a roster of performers that also includes Strangefolk, Al & The Transamericans,
