Circus Mind have officially released Road Less Traveled, their new 10-song album. According to the band, Road Less Traveled, the band’s fourth LP and fifth overall release, aims to continue “their evolution while staying true to the eclectic spirit that defines them.”

Over the past 12 months, Circus Mind gradually introduced the project through a steady stream of singles, embracing a modern, fan-forward approach to releasing music. Now assembled into a complete body of work, Road Less Traveled moves between styles—funk, soul, ’70s rock, alternative, prog, NOLA sounds and island grooves—while keeping a tight focus on the group’s songwriting. The energetic title track, “Road Less Traveled,” serves as the record’s grand finale.   

“Circus Mind albums tend to cover the spectrum of music I love and grew up with,” Mark Rechler, the group’s chief songwriter, keyboardist and vocalist, said in a statement. “Like the circus, we are not just a bunch of clowns. We are acrobats, lion tamers, daredevils, and, yes, even a few circus freaks. That is part of what makes the circus the circus.”

The album was produced, engineered and mixed by Chris Fasulo and boasts Rechler on keyboards and vocals, Dan Roth on drums, Steve Finkelstein on percussion, Mathew Fox on bass and Brian Duggan on guitar. Chris Butler also provides backing vocals on “Road Less Traveled.”

Circus Mind will perform at Patchogue, NY’s Great South Bay Music Festival tomorrow. Gov’t Mule, Bruce Hornsby and LaMP, among other acts, will round out the bill.
