The Black Crowes continue to deliver surprises as their Southern Hospitality Tour works its way through Europe. The Georgia-bred rockers have not only been busting out a range of long-forgotten covers and introducing new material by some of their biggest influences into their catalog along the way, but they have also been mining the dustier corners of their own songbook .
On June 30, at the Poppodium 013 in Tilburg, Netherlands, the Robinson brothers and their bandmates turned their attention to their 1996 oft-overlooked album Three Snakes and One Charm, dusting off “Bring On, Bring On” for the first time since an October 21, 2013, appearance a Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre. The cut was played live regularly in 1996 and 1997 after its initial debut, but the number then fell out of rotation until 2001. It has enjoyed a few revivals in the years since then, and was played 16 times in 2010, yet the ensemble had not touched the track since their 2019 reunion before last week. The show also showcased a few other recently unearthed tunes, scuh as Traffic’s “Feelin’ Alright?,” the Warpaint number “Movin’ On Down the Line” and “Thorn’s Progress,” an instrumental jam that has proceed “Thorn in My Pride” at various points over the years. Earlier this year, The Black Crowes also brought back the Three Snakes and One Charm selection “Let Me Share the Ride” for the first time since 2013 during a show in St. Augustine, FL.
The Crowes tour continues on to Multiespacio Rabasa (Area 12) in Alicante, Spainon this Wednesday.
