On Wednesday, The Black Crowes brought their Southern Hospitality Tour to The Wharf Amphitheater in Orange Beach, Ala. As they have throughout the extended run, the Crowes continued to offer some surprises as the evening unfolded.

Just three songs into the show, the ensemble dusted off The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion track “Black Moon Creeping” for the first time since August 1 of last year. Then, they invited out special guest, and New Orleans legend, Ivan Neville to play on their classic single “Jealous Again.” Soon after, The Black Crowes revived “Downtown Money Waster,” from the recently reissued Amorica album, for the first time since their Oct. 18, 2024 show in Gary, Ind. And finally, as an even bigger surprise, the Crowes performed their instrumental jam “Thorn’s Progress” for the first time since their Sept. 7, 2013 stop at the Lockin’ Festival. The instrumental number was often used as a segue into “Thorn in My Pride” in the ’90s; it subsequently popped up in setlists a handful of times between then and 2013 and was also released on the beforementioned Amorica reissue.

The Southern Hospitality Tour will resume tomorrow at Hollywood, FL’s Hard Rock Live.
