Bill Kreutzmann has shared pro-shot footage from his recent Mahalo Dead performances. The Grateful Dead drummer recently played three shows at the Porter Pavilion in Kauai, Hawaii, leading a band that also included Circles Around the Sun keyboardist Adam MacDougall, guitarist Daniel Donato, Eggy guitarist Jake Brownstein, Doom Flamingo singer Kanika Moore, The String Cheese Incident percussionist Jason Hann and bassist Reed Mathis, a member of the drummer’s Billy & The Kids and 7 Walkers bands.

The musicians recently shared official video of the version of “Shining Star” that kicked off the band’s second set opening night, November 22. The song was a single for The Manhattans and performed regularly by Jerry Garcia Band in the 1990s. It is also the title track of the 2001 JGB live compilation.

Kreutzmann’s shows also featured some other unexpected sections, including a jam based on Vampire Weekend’s ‘Sunflower” and Paul Simon’s “Obvious Child.” “Shining Star” can be found here.

The drummer also joined fellow Dead members Bob Weir and Mickey Hart on CBS Mornings. They discussed Phil Lesh’s recent passing as well as the possibility of a 60th anniversary reunion.
