Skeleton Krewe All-Star Band have dropped its plan to celebrate the late Jerry Garcia’s August 1 birthday. The ensemble, led by Stephen Inglis, will mark the occasion by performing at three different venues in Hawaii this summer, including night one, July 29, at the Palace Theatre in Hilo (on the Big Island), a follow-up in Maui (location TBA) and a final offering on the Grateful Dead guitarist’s birthday-proper, Aug. 1, at Honolulu’s Blue Note venue.

Barry Sless (pedal steel, electric guitar, and vocals), Rob Barraco (keyboards and vocals), Pete Sears (bass), and Wally Ingram (drums) will join Inglis on the aforementioned tribute dates. According to the frontman’s comments via Instagram, the concerts will represent a deep dive into the esteemed independent songbook scribed by Garcia and material performed by the artist’s self-titled Jerry Garcia Band.

Notably, Inglis has performed with original Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann and released an album of covers, dubbed Cut the Dead Some Slack, 16 songs performed in the artist’s signature slack-key style and ranging from interpretations of originals to downright jams on classics presented as live recordings; “Bird Song,” “Stella Blue.”

Tickets for the confirmed tribute concerts on July 29 and August 1 are on sale now.
