Previously, Vampire Weekend shared its latest studio album, Only God Was Above Us, and flanked the release with a fresh set of tour dates to complement their new project. Amongst the concert appearances is a June 16 matinee performance, slated for 2 p.m., at The Greek Theatre at U.C. Berkley in Berkley, Calif. After the show, Taper’s Choice has announced its plan to play at the Ivy Room at 7 p.m., roughly three miles from the university venue.

For fans of both bands, particular personnel cross-over makes the connection between Vampire Weekend’s Greek Theatre performance and Taper’s Ivy Room gig all the more rousing, given the shared membership of drummer Chris Tomson, who serves as the backbeat in both ensembles–meaning on June 16, Tomson will start his afternoon with VW before taking his talents to perform alongside Alex Bleeker (Real Estate), Dave Harrington (DARKSIDE), and Zach Tenorio-Miller (Arc Iris).

Moreover, prior to Vampire Weekend’s June 16 afternoon concert, they will perform a regularly scheduled show at the same venue on June 15, which kicks off their West Coast trek with featured support from Phish’s Mike Gordon, who will stick around through band’s June 20, Seattle stand.
