Terrapin Crossroads has confirmed that Peter Rowan will sign on as a very special guest for the inaugural Terrapin Roadshow. Rowan will join the house band for the second day of the debut event, which will bring the music of the Dead and beyond that thrived at Phil Lesh’s Terrapin Crossroads venue to Orinda, Calif.’s Bruns Amphitheater on June 1 and 2.

While the Terrapin Roadshow will ring in the summer with a “Psychedelic Saturday” on June 1, focusing on the mind-bending repertoire and cosmic ethos of the Grateful Dead and peers of the psychedelic ‘60s, the event’s second day will turn to spotlight the under-represented folk dimension of the Dead and its influences. “Western Sunday” will show the all-star house band and eager attendees flexing their bluegrass chops, and who better to lead the charge than the great Rowan, who championed the bluegrass revival of the ‘70s counterculture with groups like Earth Opera, Muleskinner and Old & In The Way. Rowan will perform alongside an ensemble of  Stu Allen, Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, Grahame Lesh, Steve Adams, Alex Koford and Jason Crosby.

After the Roadshow, Terrapin Crossroads will present Sunday Daydream Vol. 3 and Vol. 4 on July 21 and August 18 to round out its summer programming. These events will bring all-day music festivals to San Rafael, Calif.’s McNears Beach Park, inspired by the sort of sound that rang out from Terrip Crossroads’ San Rafael brick and mortar venue for a decade. Following his special guest appearance, Peter Rowan will launch into his own summer touring schedule, including sets at Telluride Bluegrass Festival and Grassfire 2024, as well as a performance of Old & In The Way classics with Sam Grisman Project at The Caverns in Grundy, Tenn.
