Today, Steve Earle and City Winery announced the ninth annual John Henry’s Friends Benefit concert will take place on Dec. 3 at The Town Hall in New York City. The evening will feature performances from American country, rock and folk singer-songwriter himself, along with John Mellencamp and other special guests.
“The John Henry’s Friends concerts are obviously a labor of love for myself as well as an expression of the generosity of all the performers who have suited up and showed up over the years,” said Earle in a press release. “I’m especially grateful for this year’s new friend, John Mellencamp and our other guests, which we will announce shortly.”
All proceeds generated from the philanthropic event will be contributed to The Keswell School an educational program for children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), which was founded on the belief that children diagnosed with ASD can live full and productive lives as integrated members of their communities and provides educational, therapeutic, and supportive services for children diagnosed with ASD and their families.
Renowned artists such as Bruce Springsteen, David Byrne, Rosanne Cash, Graham Nash, Shawn Colvin, Lucinda Williams, Emmylou Harris, Jason Isbell, Josh Ritter, Amanda Shires, Terry Allen and others have graced previous editions of John Henry’s Friends Benefit concerts, signifying the event’s stature and its history of drawing top-tier performers in support of its noble cause.
