Widespread Panic have shared plans to drop the 13th installment from the Widespread Panic Archive multi-track series, which includes vintage concert recordings from the past 25 years. The upcoming record, entitled Boone 1999, will arrive on Aug. 18. To celebrate their first archival release since 2017, the band will also team up with nugs.net for a free live listening party ahead of the project’s official due date.
Boone 1999 boasts an eclectic 20-track setlist, recorded live on April 22, 1999, at Appalachian State University’s Varsity Gym in Boone, N.C. During the performance, the jamband kicks things off with their 1990 hit “Disco,” dishes out early takes on “Red Hot,” “All-Time Low,” and “Rebirtha,” and closes out the night with 1991’s “Makes Sense To Me.” Mixed and mastered by John Keane, the project features Boone, N.C. native, the late greats Michael Houser on lead guitar and vocals in addition to Todd Nance on drums, John Bell on vocals and guitar, John Hermann on piano and vocals, Domingo Ortiz on percussion and Dave Schools on bass.
Fans can tune into the virtual release party here, on Aug. 17, at 8 p.m. EST. Boone 1999 will be available for streaming on nugs.net the following day, with CDs and downloads available for purchase here. The album will launch on additional major streaming platforms beginning Nov. 18.
