Today, music icon Ozzy Osbourne announced his decision to withdraw from Power Trip, a three-day hard rock festival scheduled for October in Indio, Calif.. In a statement, Osbourne explained, “Initially, I had planned to make my stage comeback in the summer of 2024, and when I received the invitation for this show, I eagerly accepted it with optimism. Regrettably, my body is signaling that I am not yet prepared, and I am far too proud to deliver a lackluster performance for my first show in nearly five years.”

Earlier this year, Osbourne had to cancel his European tour dates due to lingering pain from a spinal injury, which necessitated limiting travel for live performances. He mentioned, “My team is currently brainstorming ideas for venues where I can perform without the need to travel extensively from city to city or country to country.”

In 2022, Osbourne delighted fans with brief performances at the Commonwealth Games and the opening game of the NFL’s 2022 season. His most recent major concert occurred at Ozzfest on New Year’s Eve in 2018.

As painful as this is, I’ve had to make the decision to bow out of performing on Power Trip in October. My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, and when the offer to do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward. Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed. The band that will be replacing me on Power Trip will be announced shortly. They are personal friends of mine and I can promise that you will not be disappointed. Above all, I want to thank my fans, my band, and my crew for their unconditional loyalty and continual support. I love you all and I will see you soon.

God Bless, Ozzy
