Today, March 2, The String Cheese Incident have announced their plans to return to The Last Frontier. The Colorado jammers shared that on Sept. 2, they will take part in the Alaska State Fair in Palmer, Ala., the show will mark the first time since 2006 that the band has performed in the region.

Leading up to the musicians’ visit to Alaska, they will take part in a sprinkling of spring and summer shows, including festival appearances and one-off concerts. The group is currently in the midst of a stand at Belly Up in Aspen, Colo., without bassist Keith Moseley, who recently underwent emergency surgery to repair a damaged retina.

Of note, last night’s show included Greensky Bluegrass bassist Mike Devol, who assisted during a first set cover of “Reasons to Stay,” a tune swiped off his unit’s 2022 studio LP Stress Dreams

Following their time in Colorado, SCI will participate in Backwoods Festival on April 22 before picking up gigs in Wisconsin. From there, they’ll continue with appearances at Hog Farm Hideaway, Telluride Bluegrass Festival and Electric Forest leading up to their newly announced State Fair concert in Alaska.

The unit of musicians’ most recent show in the region occurred on July 24, 2006, at the Bear Tooth Theatre in Anchorage, Ala., their impending return will mark the end of a 17-year gap since the last time they performed in the area.

Tickets for the newly announced date go on sale Friday, March 3, at 10 a.m. local time. For more information, visit The String Cheese Incident’s official website
