The Disco Biscuits traveled to Utica, N.Y., over the weekend for a Saturday stand at Saranac Brewery. The Pennsylvania natives worked through several tunes across two sets, capping the first with a sit-in by moe.’s Al Schiner, who joined on guitar for a bust-out cover of the Grateful Dead favorite, “Shakedown Street,” played for the first time by the billed group since 2015.

The Oct. 1 performance got underway with “Jigsaw Earth” into “Space Train” and ultimately an epic return to the set opener before they landed on the number “One Chance to Save the World.” The Marc Brownstein-authored “Rock Candy” arrived next before Schiner took the stage and started in on the recognizable Grateful Dead classic “Shakedown Street.” The last time Disco Biscuits worked through the 1978 title track was 2015, when they landed on the number during their stand at the Ogden Theatre in Denver.

After capping their first set, Disco Biscuits returned to the stage for a wholly segued set, which began with “Caterpillar” into “Freeze,” followed by an inverted take on 2002’s “Digital Buddha.” The latter ran into the Jon Gutwillig-penned “Times Square” prior to “Svenghali,” off the band’s 2000 LP, Bisco Lives

Epically, The Disco Biscuits ended their second set with a return to “Caterpillar,” which kicked off the second frame of music. After Saturday’s show, the band will continue touring this evening when they stop at Stony Creek Brewery in Branford, Conn. Then, the jammers will take some time off the road before returning for a festival set at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Fla.
