In a newly released video, banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck and his band My Bluegrass Heart performed a rendition of his 1988 song “Whitewater.” During the performance, which took place last month at the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, Fleck and his ensemble were joined by Sam Bush, Sierra Hull and Jerry Douglas.
Bush, Hull and Duglas were all featured on Fleck’s 2021 LP My Bluegrass Heart, and since its release, Fleck has won the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album and has toured with contributors which also include luminaries like Molly Tuttle, Michael Cleveland, Billy Strings, Chris Thile and more.
“I have almost always played and recorded my bluegrass projects with the folks from my own age and peer group,” Fleck wrote on his website. “But for this new album, I wanted to open up to the fresh and powerfully evolved musicians who have come along since us, and partly because of us!”
